Daniel Caesar at the Danforth Music Hall

img_2744.jpgFor the past year, whenever she gets the opportunity, my sister plays Daniel Caesar’s music whenever she gets the aux cord. All I could vaguely remember was me swaying my head a couple times to his soulful melodies. When she invited me to join her for his concert, I passingly accepted without realizing how popular he actually was. I, only familiar with one or two songs, wasn’t expecting much leading up to the concert date- but in retrospect, I was completely blown away.

Daniel Caesar is an artist that left me an impression of a shy guynextdoor, who escaped to music as a hobby who happened to be overheard by hundreds of thousands that fell inlove with his lyrics, voice, and music.

I was pretty speechless when I listened to some of the lyrics he sang that night-  I think his lyrics paint memories that are unique for each individual there. My favourite lyrics that I heard that night are from his song “Best Part” where H.E.R and Daniel sing:

You’re the coffee that I need in the morning
You’re my sunshine in the rain when it’s pouring
Won’t you give yourself to me…

If life is a movie
Oh you’re the best part

My favourite songs that I immediately downloaded after the concert are:

Japanese Denim

Get You

Best Part

There were surprise appearances from H.E.R and Syd – and the crowd went insane. I wasn’t familiar with them but feeling everyone’s excitement breach a new level was so much fun. I’m so glad to be blessed by his voice and music and I can’t stop listening to these three songs on repeat now.

I used my Canon G7X for the pictures and videos. I’ll be posting my Daniel Caesar clips into my December Recap vlog – or in a separate video on my youtube channel.
